EIB20103 - BUSINESS ETHICS AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE
This course focuses on the importance of ethics and corporate governance for the sustainability of a business. Students are also exposed to emerging issues in the corporate governance in various countries around the world to enable them to describe the mechanism used in corporate governance. Students build a repertoire of knowledge of the theories of thics and corporate governance, and how they should and could be applied in various business situations.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Identify and describe problem areas in organisational settings;
2. Plan, organise, design and conduct research to help solve the problems identified;
3. Use statistical analysis and computer programmes to analyse data;
4. Write and present research reports;
5. Differentiate “good” from “bad” research reported in academic, business and trade journals; and
Review literature on topics selected.

EIB30403 - ADVANCED MANAGERIAL FINANCE
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
1. Calculate historical returns, volatilities and risk premiums using examples from Malaysian capital market.
2. Apply the concepts of financial return and risk to long term decision-making and explain the relationships between them.
3. Identify different approaches that are used to estimate cost of capital, the effects of leverage on risk and return and the basic trade-off leading to an optimal capital structure.
4. Assess the implications of dividend policy on firm’s value issues associated with mergers and acquisitions in the particular the benefits, tax aspect of acquisition and cost of an acquisition.
5. Illustration some of the most important types of risk and the need to manage these risks.

This course discusses about the functions of finance managers, capital market and instruments, risk and return, long term financing and project cash flows, capital structure, cost of capital, stocks, bonds, derivatives , dividend, and dividend policy are also discussed. Students are also introduced to risk management, merger and acquisition, corporate performance measurement, leasing and international finance.
