This unit introduces students to the concepts and principles of Multimedia development through authoring systems. It includes an introduction to a state-of-the-art multimedia authoring environment and the principles of programming within that authoring environment. Students are exposed to the principles and practices involved in scripting and developing products using a Multimedia Development Environment. They are then required to author a significant prototype using this authoring system.
IMB32803 - MULTIMEDIA AUTHORING 2
In this course, students will learn to enhance their multimedia authoring skills by exploring external communication to state-of-the-art multimedia authoring tool such as Flash. Interface components such as text areas, pull down menus, radio buttons, check boxes, tile lists, sliders and data grids are also further explored. An important aspect of the course is communication with server scripts such as PHP to share information between users through variables and XML. Advanced topics, such as custom classes and design patterns, incorporating 3D, use of physics and creating desktop applications, discussed at the end of the course will prepare students with the knowledge of the critical skills required in the interactive multimedia industry.
