JCB20703 - DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM
Distributed Control System (DCS) is defined as a
system comprising of functionally and physically separate automatic process
controllers, process monitoring and data logging equipment all of which are
interconnected through a fast, digital network. This ensures sharing of
relevant information for optimum control of the plant. In large-scale
manufacturing or process plants, there are hundreds of control loops to be
monitored and controlled. For such large processes, the commercial DCS is
normally the control system of choice.
